Eagles Under 14 Boys

It;s that time of year again. The pinnacle of club basketball in Ireland is the All Ireland Club Championships and this year East Cavan Eagles Under 14 Boys will participate for the 3rd consecutive year. No mean feat.

The boys travel to Tralee in Kerry to play in Presentation Secondary School. They are in Pool 3 along with Limerick Lakers and Longford Falcons.

Their first game is at 13:45 against Limerick Lakers and then at 16:15 they face Longford Falcons. Depending on the results of these 2 games will decide their next games.

With the boys coming off the back of NEAB Top Four and league wins confidence among the boys should be high. Many of the boys in this squad have also recently won the Regional Finals in Schools Basketball and are to play in the National Basketball Arena on Tuesday 12th April in the All Ireland Schools Cup semi-final.

It’s been another great year for this squad of players, let’s hope they top it off with some more silverware to add to the collection.

We wish the boys and coaches all the very best of luck,

Details can seen on Basketball Ireland’s site here

Eagles Under 14 Boys in Tralee

Eagles Under 14 Boys and a lot of their families travelled to Tralee on Friday last. They had an early start on Saturday morning with the first game scheduled for 9:30. The boys put up a valiant fight against a very strong host team in St. Brendan’s A. Then is it was off for the annual swim, where fun and games were had by all, parents included. The next game was against KCYMS, although going down by 8 points at one stage the boys dug deep to come out on top 5 points to qualify for a place in the cup 1/4 final on Sunday morning.

We all had a great meal together on Saturday night in The Manor West Hotel. Sunday’s game was set for 11 O’Clock so it was another early start for the boys. Unfortunately, their exertions from the previous match perhaps had taken too much out of them as they quite clearly struggled in the later part of the 1/4 final against TK Cougars who progressed to the semi-final against a very strong Neptune team form Cork. KUBS from Dublin came out as tournament winners with a buzzer beater shot to win over Neptune by 2 points.

Once again St. Brendan’s Basketball have put on a great tournament and were very welcoming, we look forward to meeting you all again.

We all had a great time and I hope we have learnt some important lessons ahead of the trip to Sligo for the AICC’s

Once again thanks to all the parents for their support. [sam id=”1″ codes=”true”]

Eagles Under 14 Boys set for Tralee

st brendansEast Cavan Eagles are delighted to have been invited back to The St. Brendan’s Tralee basketball tournament. Our Under 12 Boys had a truly brilliant time there last year and this time it is the turn of our Under 14 Boys to make the trip to The Kingdom.

The tournament takes place from the 20th to the 22nd March and should prove a real test for the boys before what would appear to be an imminent trip to Basketball Ireland’s All Ireland Club Championships in Sligo in April.

The boys currently stand at the top of their league with an an impressive 8 and 0 record and would look likely to progress to the AICC’s .

We would like to thank St. Brendan’s for the invitation and look forward to meeting up with some friends again.
